If someone were to put a blond wig on John McCain and string pearls around his thick neck, America would see Hillary Clinton in a real man’s suit. Both candidates are liberal democrats who believe in similar policies; and both have tried to be famous dead people: Hillary used to claim she channeled Eleanor Roosevelt for advice; John McCain thinks he’s Ronald Reagan’s revolutionary soldier.
It ’s hard to find many differences between the two: both are hot-tempered, angry, and volatile; both pretend to be conservative on the war for the vote; both voted for the Patriot Act and its reauthorization, and both are against the interrogation of the enemy and the continuance of Guantanimo Bay. Basically, they’re both Socialist Europeans running as “American” candidates.
John McCain describes himself as the only real conservative in the republican race despite the fact he tried to become John Kerry’s running mate in 2004. Now he sounds as if he’s trying to become Hillary’s running mate.
The member of the Gang of 14 has been stating he will make the Bush Tax Cuts permanent, but his voting record speaks the opposite. It sounds closer to Hillary Clinton’s opposition toward tax breaks.
In May of 2001, Senator McCain joined Hillary Clinton in a nay vote on the 1.35 trillion dollar Bush Tax Cut. In May of 2003, McCain and Hillary continued their opposition to the tax-cuts by voting no.
In 2004, Hillary Clinton told a group of San Francisco fundraisers “we’re [democrats] probably going to cut that [tax cut] short not to give it to you [wealthy]. We’re going to take things away from you [wealthy] on behalf of the common good.”
This from the woman worth tens of millions and possibly more if she ever released her tax records for examination of her wealth.
In 2001, McCain sounded like Hillary Clinton’s when stating that “in good conscience I can’t support a tax cut in which so many of the benefits go to the most fortunate among us…” This from the man whose mother is an oil heiress and his wife is a beer heiress.
In December of 2007, Hillary stated if elected as president “we [America] will go back to the tax rate we had before George Bush became president.”
On December 28, 2007, Fox News’s Rich Lowry asked McCain if he were given a chance to vote again, would he vote down the tax cut? McCain answered yes in a round about way, then quickly flopped like a Kerry by stating the “tax cuts must be made permanent.”
Tax cuts are conservative, tax cuts are Reaganesque. The media’s so-called “Maverick” is now wearing a Reagan mask in effort to gain the nomination, yet like Hillary the democrat, McCain is against the Fair Tax which would free all Americans from taxes and the IRS. But liberals love stealing American’s hard earned dollars and giving it to the government—themselves. Politicians and welfare recipients should never have to work for a living.
McCain’s liberal voting record does not stop with taxes. When it comes to marriage between a man and woman only, John McCain supports Hillary Clinton’s liberal views.
In 2007, Hillary told a group of gay activists she would work with them if she wins the White House, stating she opposed the Federal Marriage Amendment Act: “when HRC stood up and took on the Federal Marriage Amendment, you we’re making an important statement…this amendment was a wedge in politics at its worst…against the entire forward movement of American history…”
Like Hillary Clinton, McCain said a ban on same sex marriage was unfair because he does not feel “it represents a death knell to marriage.”
In 1996, John McCain opposed the Defense of Marriage Act. In July of 2004, John McCain debated against George W. Bush’s Federal Marriage Amendment Act that would define marriage as between a man and woman. McCain stated “the Constitutional Amendment we’re debating…strikes me as antithetical in every way to the core philosophy of the Republicans…” I’m sure his first wife whom he dumped for another woman might feel the opposite.
Both Senators helped stop the Marriage Amendment Act with their nay votes. The so-called conservative, like the liberal, supports gay marriage.
Hillary Clinton and John McCain voted in favor of giving illegal Aliens amnesty. Both voted to prevent any delays on amnesty. Guess who voted for them?
Both supported the Iraq war going in and both have done nothing but criticize the war from the get-go, calling it a disaster. Hillary pulled a John Kerry in 2006 insisting had she known what she knows now, she never would have voted for war. One does not want to completely alienate Cindy Sheehan and Susan Sarandon.
Again, I wonder if both are running together as running mates from both parties. They share the same canine distemper ailment, both have a military background: McCain served in Vietnam and was a P.O.W. while Hillary tried to join the Marines during her Wellesley days, but was turned down for apparent poor eyesight. Are we to believe Marines aren’t allowed to wear glasses or contact lenses?
Both candidates oppose free speech: Hillary is for a Fairness Doctrine which would silence conservative talk radio hosts who expose her lies. John McCain signed McCain-Feingold allowing campaign finance reform to limit free speech.
Perhaps Hillary and McCain should get together and create a Free Speech Reform Bill called the McCain-Clinton Gag Act.
Now both candidates are together in support of a the new Stimulus Plan outlined by President Bush during his last State of the Union Address, which allows illegal aliens with fake Social Security cards to collect rebates (welfare) every month. Oh yes John, Ronald Reagan loved free hand-outs to those on welfare. Perhaps John and Hillary can purchase Cadillac’s for all the “welfare queens.”
Neither candidate is viable for the presidency unless we want a return to the scandalous Clinton era or revisit Jimmy Carter’s fabulous era of a making nice to terrorists who have no problem “interrogating” Americans.
Hillary Clinton and John McCain should be the biggest wake-up call for all Americans who don’t want a democrat run White House: both are liberals and both are democrats.
